Accessing Public Funding and Subsidies

Employers who engage in Second Chance Hiring can take advantage of several public incentives designed to support inclusive employment:

  • The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) offers a one-time tax credit for hiring individuals from targeted groups, including those with criminal records.
  • The Federal Bonding Program provides free insurance coverage to protect employers against potential risks when hiring justice-involved individuals.
  • Additional state and local incentives may be available through workforce boards and government agencies.

These programs reduce financial risk, offer cost savings, and make it easier for businesses to tap into a motivated, overlooked talent pool—while contributing to community and economic development.
